We specialize in publishing and distributing otherwise unavailable works—artists’ books, zines, limited editions, and sound recordings—spanning contemporary art, critical theory, design, music, cinema, and underground culture. We collaborate with both local and international artists, bringing raw, urgent, and independent voices into print.
COMMENTARIVM exists somewhere between a project space, archive, publishing house, and art gallery. Built on a strict DIY ethos, we operate without grants or external funding, surviving solely through book sales. No handouts, no censorship—only the books, the people who make them, and those who dare to read them.
Rooted in the legacy of the lost Pergamon Library, we reclaim the act of publishing as an act of resistance. Beyond books, COMMENTARIVM hosts events, launches, and collaborations that expand the discourse around art and publishing. Our titles are available in our İzmir space and worldwide through our webshop.
